Future Energy Solutions will take place in Lappeenranta, Finland, for the fifth time on 8–9 September 2026 at the Lappeenranta City Theatre. Registration for the event is now open.
Under the theme Energy Meets Industry, the conference brings together industry leaders, innovators, policymakers and researchers to explore how the energy transition is reshaping industrial systems and regional development.
A key meeting point for the energy sector
Future Energy Solutions has become one of the most influential energy conferences of the autumn in Finland. The 2026 edition will focus on topics such as hydrogen ecosystems, energy security, clean energy investments and emerging energy infrastructure.
The two-day programme features keynotes, expert presentations and panel discussions, complemented by a partner exhibition, a dedicated networking area and an evening programme. In addition, a series of side events will expand the programme further – more details will be announced soon.
Programme highlights
The programme is continuously being updated, with several confirmed sessions and speakers already published.
The event opens on Tuesday, 8 September, with the session The Energy System Is Built Together. Keynote speakers include Timo Ritonummi (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Finland) and Jukka Ruusunen (LUT University), followed by a panel on developing PtX ecosystems and hydrogen valleys, as well as a presentation on linking EU energy policy with regional action.
The afternoon continues with Energy = Security, addressing resilience and practical solutions. Topics include workforce adaptation, carbon capture piloting and new carbon-storing materials.
On Wednesday, 9 September, the session Powering Tomorrow – Invest in Clean Energy focuses on pathways to net-zero and regional transformation, including lessons from Sønderborg in Denmark.
The final session, Building a New Energy Backbone, highlights the future of energy infrastructure, featuring insights on data centres, waste heat utilisation and local energy solutions.
