GENERAL INFORMATION

The City of Lappeenranta hosted the first Future Energy Solutions Conference in 2021, on September 13 and 14. The conference was part of the city’s European Green Leaf Award year with the main objective of sharing knowledge and promoting joint business opportunities and political initiatives. In 2021, altogether 33 speakers gave presentations for 300 registered participants in the Future Energy Solutions Conference. Keynote speakers included Catharina Sikow-Magny, Director of DG Energy, Timo Harakka, Finland’s Minister of Transport and Communications and Mika Anttonen, the founder and principal shareholder of the energy company St1, to name a few.

Lappeenranta organized the second Future Energy Solutions Conference in 2022, on November 8 and 9. In 2022, the main theme of the conference was Towards Energy Independent Europe. In 2022, there were 28 speakers, such as Henna Virkkunen, Member of the European Parliament, Helena Sarén, Head of Zero Carbon Future mission, Kamilla Björkman, Head of E.ON ectogrid and Pertti Kauranen, Full Professor for Energy Storage at LUT University were some of the keynote speakers. 300 registered participants attended the conference.
