The international Future Energy Solutions conference will take place on 9–10 September 2025 in Lappeenranta, Finland, bringing together professionals, researchers, companies, and policymakers to explore the latest developments in the energy transition. The event will be held at the Lappeenranta City Theatre, located in the IsoKristiina shopping center in the heart of the city.
This year’s main theme is Energy Innovations, with conference sessions focusing on three key areas: 1) Digital Energy Systems 2) Hydrogen Economy 3) Future Mobility.
Keynote speakers include Sari Multala, Finland’s Minister of Climate and the Environment, and Pasi Vainikka, Co-founder and Board Member of Solar Foods Oy. The program also features high-level speakers from leading energy companies and research institutions.
In addition to expert presentations, the conference offers a diverse and interactive programme including panel discussion, round table session, workshops, site visits and networking opportunities at the partner exhibition area. The evening programme includes a cruise with dinner on Lake Saimaa, providing a relaxed setting for informal discussions and professional networking.
Site Visits to Energy Innovation Destinations
On Wednesday, 10 September, participants will have the opportunity to explore real-world energy innovations through organised site visits:
1) Mertaniemi Power Plant – A guided tour of selected areas including the district heating accumulator, electric boiler, and gas turbines.
2) Neoen Battery Storage & Elstor Thermal Storage – Introduction to the largest battery storage facility in the Nordics and a pioneering high-temperature thermal storage site.
3) LUT University Power-to-X Laboratories – A visit to a new research environment focused on carbon capture, hydrogen production, and synthetic fuels.
